Meet Thorgrim!

“In the centuries I have been High King, our enemies have thought us weak, cowards hiding in the deepest, darkest places. Fools!” - High King Thorgrim GrudgebearerIntroducing Thorgrim! Unlike his namesake, this sweet boy is a lover and not a fighter. Thorgrim is about a year old and came to us severely underweight and with skin wounds. After a visit to the vet and some TLC from his foster mom and dad, his wounds have healed up very nicely! He is now at his optimal weight and is officially ready to find his forever home.

While Thorgrim has had a rough go at life, he is such a mild-mannered and loving guy. The major war that this little soldier had to fight was for his health, and he has won and is ready to take on the world. He is an angel in his crate and will even voluntarily run in there if he thinks it’s time for his next meal. He has not had any accidents in the house, and will even signal when he needs to go outside by sitting quietly at the door! Thorgrim has mastered “sit” and “go to bed” commands and is doing great learning his leash manners.

Thorgrim currently lives in a home with other dogs and some cats, and does so well with all of them. He has a very mild temperament and mostly ignores the cats, sometimes bowing at them to try and initiate play, but also taking the hint when the answer is clearly ’'no.’' In addition to his four-legged friends, Thorgrim is also great with two-legged friends, including kids, as he just sees them as additional opportunities to receive head scratches. Though a bit shy at first, Thorgrim is quick to warm up and will even gently paw at his attention-giver as a reminder to keep the head scratches coming.

Thorgrim has had several playdates with other dogs and makes a great dog park dog. He has not shown any evidence of resource guarding over toys or chews with dogs or humans. On a normal day when the dog park is not on the agenda, walks or other forms of light or moderate exercise work great for Thorgrim. Although couches (and a lot of things!) are new discoveries for Thorgrim, he has quickly learned that they are a great place for resting and chewing on some fun toys when his humans are busy. Thorgrim likes to let his foster parents know that there may be someone outside with a bark, but quickly warms up once he sees it’s a friend and not a foe.

Recently, Thorgim took a fun trip to Lowe’s with his foster mom. He did great and is now ready to face all the automatic doors the world has to throw at him! He’s a dream in the car and has learned that it’s a pretty cool place to be because it leads to all sorts of new adventures.

Thorgrim has a lot to learn about the world, but he is learning quickly that humans can be great and just want to be his friend and love him. Are you ready to show Thorgrim a lifetime of friendship and love? Contact Athens Canine Rescue today!
