Derulo, 33, left a $5,000 tip to Jordan Schaffer at Charleston’s Restaurant in Omaha on March 5, KETV reported.

The “Savage Love” singer came to the restaurant with 17 other people, according to the television station. Schaffer, unaware of who the guests were going to be, was nevertheless pleased because of the possibility of a handsome tip.

Then he learned that Derulo was part of the large group.

“And I was, like, ‘Seriously?’ What the heck is Jason Derulo doing in Omaha?” Schaffer told KETV.

Derulo had recently purchased a stake in a women’s volleyball team and was in town. He decided to eat at Charleston’s.

The bill for the meal came to $799.95. Derulo tacked on a $5,000 tip, according to the television station. That is more than enough to cover Schaffer’s tuition for his next semester of college, Entertainment Tonight reported.

The server recorded his reaction in a TikTok video, thanking Derulo for the tip.

“Wow, my heart’s beating really fast,” Schaffer said in the video.

“You guys are really awesome, man,” Derullo answered.

“I couldn’t believe it. Like, seeing $5,000 written out on the check was just -- it was, like, heart-stopping, you know,” Schaffer told KETV, adding that he had read about celebrities leaving large tips but never believed he would be the recipient of a star’s generosity. “To see it happen to myself is just kind of bewildering.”

Schaffer, who said he split the $5,000 with a co-worker, said he still had plenty of cash to pay for his tuition.

“Tuition was actually due last week and I hadn’t been able to pay it,” Schaffer told the television station. “So, getting that money just really took a lot of stress out of my life.”

“Hey Jason, thank you,” Schaffer said in the video. “You just paid for a semester at my college. I can’t thank you enough.”

“I hope you and your family have a wonderful time in Omaha. And I hope you see us again. Thank you so much.”

Derulo reposted the video to his own TikTok account on Thursday, People reported.

In a caption, Derulo wrote, “Blessed to be a blessing.”
