CHANDLER, Ariz. — Arizona police are looking for a woman who allegedly took a wallet that she found at a Walmart. The wallet contained $200 and belonged to a 6-year-old boy, authorities said.
Officials with the Chandler Police Department said the child was with his mother at about 9 p.m. Wednesday when he dropped the wallet, which contained money saved from his birthday and for Christmas, KNXV reported.
According to a news release, surveillance cameras at the Walmart captured video of a woman who picked up the wallet. She made no effort to return the wallet or locate the owner, police said, resulting in what authorities are considering a theft.
According to the news release, the woman reportedly left the store in a two-door black vehicle that had custom rims.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the woman or the vehicle. Tips can be called in to 480-782-4130.
