Alamo Drafthouse, other theaters, offer private viewing opportunities

Does your couch, or favorite chair, have a permanent dimple in the cushions since we’ve all been streaming movies and television shows for what seems like forever?

You can now change your surroundings while still staying socially distant.

Alamo Drafthouse is allowing film fans to rent out an entire theater for their own private viewing party, Variety reported.

But you don’t have to be alone when settling in the theater seats. You can invite up to 30 friends.

For only $150, you and up to 30 guests can watch one of 40 films on a big screen. It’s called “Your Own Private Alamo.”

You also have to buy at least $150 worth of theater foods, according to Variety.

Right now only two locations are participating in the program — Austin, Texas, and Denver, Colorado.

Alamo isn’t the only chain looking to put people in empty seats.

Cinemark is also offering a similar screening opportunity.

For $350, you can invite up to 25 family and friends to partake in a private screening, complete with 25 large popcorns and 25 large drinks. If you have more than 25 attendees, you can add up to another 25 people to the list for an additional fee.

Touchstar Cinemas Madison Square 12 rented out its 50-seat theaters to groups of 20 or fewer.
