Body found, suspect in custody in Barrow Co

The body of a person reported missing from Gwinnett County has been found in the crawl space beneath a home in Barrow County, and a suspect is now in custody: the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office says Adam Heard faces charges that include concealing a death in the case of Kim Mason, whose remains were found Tuesday. The GBI is in on the ongoing investigation.

The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a missing woman whose body was found inside a home.

Deputies found Kim Mason’s body inside a crawlspace at a home off Tanners Bridge Road on Tuesday. Mason had been reported missing in Gwinnett County.

Investigators have charged a man in connection with her death. Adam Heard is currently being held at the Barrow County Detention Center.

He faces the following charges: Concealing the Death of Another, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by taking motor vehicle, theft by taking and violation of probation

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is still ongoing and it is working closely with the Gwinnett County Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

An autopsy on Mason has not been performed and more charges could be possible.
