The man, identified by Mobile police as 29-year-old William Christopher Pruett, crashed into a motorcycle and its 49-year-old driver early Wednesday morning, according to AL.com.

Around 6 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to the scene of the collision on Halls Mill Road near Pruett's home, WALA reported.

Medics rushed the victim to the hospital, where he was last listed in critical condition, but Pruett left the area before police arrived, AL.com reported.

Officers found him at his home on Halls Mill Road around 7:45 a.m. after a person called to report seeing a Jeep with a motorcycle attached to its front. When police arrived, the motorcycle was still stuck to the front of the vehicle, according to WALA.

Police arrested Pruett on charges of first-degree assault, possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, Mobile County Sheriff's Office records show.

He was released Friday on bail.
