At the age of 42, Mark Wahlberg can proudly say he’s a high school graduate.
The Entourage creator never made it past the ninth grade. “My circumstances were not unlike millions of other teens today, who live in tough working class neighborhoods surrounded by drugs, violence and crime, and who struggle to stay on the right path without positive influences,” he writes on his Huffington Post blog.
The father of four children told People, “I didn’t want the kids saying, ‘You didn’t do it, so why do I need it?’ They are all wanting to do things in their future that require an education.”
Mark says he’s been taking online classes for the past year — on set, traveling and at home.
“It has been both humbling and challenging, but I’m happy to report that I am officially a high school graduate,” he writes.
So Mark wants to help others get their high school diploma too, so his charity — Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation — has partnered with Taco Bell Foundation For Teens to help others realize their dreams too.
